SALVADOR DALI & THE PARANOIC CRITIC ACTIVITY Article

SALVADOR DALI
& THE PARANOIC CRITIC ACTIVITY
By Edgar Kerval

The birth of Salvador Dali in may 11th 1904 literally transformed him in one of the new aeon’s child described in liber al vel legis. A genius of first grade which since childhood shown in high attributes in the visual art through each one of his pictures. in 1934 Dali contributed to surrealism movement a new instrument called: "Paranoic-critic activity which he described as a way of irrational knowledge based in a delirium of interpretation. I mean, he tries to reproduce and take advantage of delirium paranoia in a experimental form with the purpose to systematize the confusion and to contribute in this way with discredit of world reality. we can see a high influence of Jacques Lacan thesis work about the paranoic psychosis and its relating personality.

Without a doubt Salvador Dali was one of the principal magicians from XX century in the development of his system of magickal reactivation at the same period of time in which Aleister Crowley & Austin Osman Spare were developing their doctrines. the Dali’s system of “paranoic-critic activity” evoke echoes from resurgent atavisms which are reflected in concrete world of images by a process of obsession similar to the one induced by the death posture.
The Dali’s pictures are always reflected in the fluid and always astral light fickle luminosity. Dali lead the process step beyond. his “paranoic –critic activity” formula is a development from primigenium (African) fetiche concept and we could compare the Spare’s theory “vizualized sensation” with the Dali’s definition to paint as the hand creating a colour picture of concrete irrationality.

The Dali’s purpose was to find series of images in which could be recognized the complex and pulsations which inhabits the mind’s dark zones. this access via to superreality (the conscious world) supposed the installation in the repressed instincts field. according to Dali, was better to start with an external reality and tangible reference ej: a photography, object or just a spot, and through this he could project the unconscious and critic way. Dali materialized his obsessions and dreams through a double image I mean, an image without transforming its external appearance creates a second image, so, people who see them could discern between both images.

The paranoic phenomenon expressed through double image constitutes different simultaneous images, so different persons look in his pictures different images, and appears the associative mechanisms and obsessive ideas about such images. through all his magickal creative experimentation in the field of unconscious investigation Dali’s gave us an important clue to travel to another conscious states and from each one of his pictures and landscapes seems that only he has the key to enter in a dimension in which just a small particle has been explored.

WHILE WE HAVE A DROP OF SPERM AND A COUP OF WINE WE WILL CONTINUE VISUALIZING THE GREEN HORSES OTHERS CANNOT SEE!!!
